So, apparently, the idea that grabbed my attention before absolutely refuses to be fleshed out. Maybe it'll come later, but for now, here is the complete poem. And I may never flesh it out.
Today,
today my eyes
are blue.

It seems to have so much potential! How frustrating for you. As it is, it works okay. No, not a cop-out. Like you said, you can always come back to it later if you feel inspired.
