Just a Random Thought...

I like to observe how people interact. I guess I could have been a sociologist, but that's not the point. Over the last couple years I have observed an interesting trend.

Women have to have it their way when it comes to the toilet seat. Personally, I don't care. If it avoids conflict, I'll put the seat down. Not a big deal. Not according to some females I've known. To them, if the toilet seat is left up, it's a mortal sin, one carrying something akin to the death penalty. Really, does it make all that much of a difference? Is it that much harder for them to put the seat down when they need to use it?

I definitely understand when there's a small kid in the house or a pet that likes to drink from the toilet. Yeah, put the seat down then. But lacking those situations, why not just leave it as it is for the next user? If you use it down, leave it down. If you use it up, leave it up.

Not a big deal.

At least for me.

Try accidentally sitting on the toilet with the seat up. Not comfy. She must have come from a house full of girls. Or a house full of attentive boys.

I've finally trained mine. SO HAPPY!

In Peru they don't have toilet seats. So I don't really feel much pity for sitting on the toilet with the seat up.

Like I said, I go along with it just to keep the peace. It doesn't matter that much to me. I just think the people that think it is essential are amusing.

jgirl: Thanks. I do open doors for women...And put the toilet seat down, but that's just because women intimidate me.

I don't really mind if the seat is left up, I just put it down before using it, though it isn't a joy in the middle of the night to sit down without thinking and almost fall into the toilet! :)

Actually, if I had my preference, not just the seat would be put down, but the cover too. Like you, though, I don't see the point in creating bad feelings over a measly toilet seat/cover. There are bigger things to worry about...like which station the radio is on in the bathroom!

Just kidding, of course, that is a simple fix, too.

I hope you have noticed that when in your house I actually put the seat back up for you. My deal is the germs. Every time you flush you are launching those particles into the air to land on things, like your toothbrush. With the cover down it reduces that likelihood. I want a fecal-matter free toothbrush, is that so much to ask?

I insist that the toilet seat be down because I don't know about you, but I don't like to go to someone's house and see inside thier toilet. Especially when it is not clean! That is really nasty! And it makes that bathroom look cleaner.
